Writing a clear job post for a nanny or maid
What to include in a domestic helper job post – role, hours, living arrangement, requirements – so the right candidates apply.
By Nannest Editorial Team · Published · 4 min read
A clear job post saves you time. The right candidates recognise themselves, and the wrong ones don't apply.
A specific title
"Live-in nanny for two toddlers in Dubai Marina" works better than "Helper needed". Include the role, the living arrangement and the area.
What to include
- The family: number and ages of children, pets, any special needs.
- The main duties, in order of importance.
- Hours and days, including evenings, weekends or travel.
- Live-in or live-out, and for live-in, the room provided.
- Languages you need.
- Start date.
- Salary range, if you are comfortable sharing it. A range helps candidates decide whether the job is right for them.
What to avoid
- Requirements that are not really needed for the job.
- Requests for personal documents in the job post.
- Anything that asks candidates to pay a fee – this is never allowed on Nannest.
Review applications fairly
