Safety on Nannest
Nannest reviews every profile before publication and offers optional identity verification. No online check replaces your own judgement – these steps help both families and helpers stay safe.
For families
- Meet candidates in person before making any decision, ideally with another adult present.
- See original identity documents yourself and confirm the person's visa and sponsorship situation.
- Call at least two previous employers. Our reference-check guide has a script.
- Consider a paid trial day.
- Remember that Identity Verified confirms identity only – not background, references or work history.
- Never send money to someone claiming to be an "agent" for a helper.
For helpers
- Never pay anyone to get a job. Using Nannest is free for helpers.
- Your passport and identity documents belong to you. Don't hand them over to keep.
- Meet the family before agreeing to anything and tell someone you trust where you are going.
- Ask for the terms of the job in writing, in a language you understand.
- Read our guide to job scams aimed at domestic workers.
Official information
Rules for domestic work in the UAE are set by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). If you are unsure about a contract, visa or fee, check with MOHRE or an authorised domestic worker service centre.
